My Precious Gems

My precious gems are the children
God sent to us with love.
They came without instructions,
but learning I was capable of.
I made mistakes along the way
as most all mothers do,
but I never failed to love our children
daily as each of them grew.
I wanted them all to know
there was room in my heart to share
the gift of love God blessed me with
for each child placed in my care.
Great joy they brought into our lives,
and yes, some challenges too,
but I could never imagine having lived
without sharing their lives as they grew.
I did my best to teach them
that they are precious in God's eyes
and to me they are very precious gems
and in my heart they will always shine.
